Wil Ortiz

Operations Manager of Paws by Parker & Burns

Wil brings a lifetime of leadership, public service, and compassion to our team.

A proud United States Army veteran, Wil served our country as a Military Police Officer. Today, Wil is a 100% disabled veteran, and his dedication to serving others has remained a defining part of his life.

Following his military service, Wil continued his lifelong commitment to protecting and serving others through a distinguished career with U.S. Steel.

During his career at U.S. Steel, Wil worked in Emergency Services, serving in several important roles, including Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Firefighter, Hazardous Materials (HazMat) Technician, and Security Officer.

Wil also held a management position within Emergency Services, where he helped oversee operations, coordinate emergency response efforts, and maintain the safety and security of employees and facilities.

Throughout his career, Wil demonstrated strong leadership, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to protecting others — qualities he continues to bring to Paws by Parker & Burns today.

But retirement didn't mean Wil was finished helping people.

He simply found another way to serve.

Following his retirement from U.S. Steel, Wil began a second career at Northwest Health – Porter.

If you've visited the hospital, there's a chance you've already met Wil.

You may have seen him at the front desk, greeting patients and visitors, answering questions, offering directions, or simply providing a friendly smile during what may have been a difficult day.

For Wil, helping people has never been just a job. It's been a lifelong commitment.

And when he's not helping others, Wil has another important role — being a devoted dog dad to his beloved English Bulldogs.

Pictured here with his English Bulldogs, Wil understands firsthand that our pets aren't simply animals living in our homes. They're family members who fill our lives with unconditional love, companionship, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

As Operations Manager of Paws by Parker & Burns, Wil brings his extensive background in leadership, emergency services, and helping families to our pet aftercare program.

His experience and personal love for animals help reinforce our commitment to treating every beloved companion with the dignity, respect, and compassionate care they deserve.

From serving his country, to protecting the lives of others as a firefighter, EMT, and HazMat Technician, to welcoming people through the doors of a hospital, Wil has spent his life being there for others.

Now, we're honored to have him continuing that tradition of service as part of the Paws family.
